Day 9: Wednesday 10th August 2016

Our last full day of camp saw a livelier Shul of Rock and breakfast than ever before! We began the morning by travelling to the holy Land in our Israel tochnit. We walked through the desert, spent time on the beach and covered ourselves in mud at the Dead Sea. This tied in nicely to our ‘Challenge Graduation’ as we have now learnt so much about the land and state of Israel.

Following lunch, we competed in our ‘Sufa Sports Day’ with football, volleyball, dodgeball and benchball. There was tons of energy and ruach – the place was buzzing with loads of cheering for respective teams!

After a big site clean up and summing up session., we got dressed up for a final banquet and talent show which everyone loved!

Day 8: Tuesday 9th August 2016

We began the day as usual with Shul of Rock and a lively breakfast which was followed by a tour around the local area where we are staying. We learnt about WWI and things that took place in and near this area. It was extremely interesting and we all learnt something new.

We arrived back at the camp site for i-club and lunch before being greeted by lots of United Synagogue Rabbis and Youth Directors - from Radlett, Finchley, Stanmore, Chigwell, Mill Hill, head office and elsewhere - who came to join us for the afternoon.

They ran a fantastic programme for us which entailed creating posters, songs and dances, culminating in one big talent contest for all three camps. The Rabbis and Youth Directors joined us for dinner and we had a great time with them.

The evening saw a game of glow in the dark dodgeball and a relaxed BBC session.

Day 7: Monday 8th August 2016

With a usual wake-up, Shul of Rock and breakfast, we were looking forward to a day on site with some great programmes. We travelled around the world visiting Spain, Italy and America, amongst other countries and enjoyed the activities that we participated in at each one. We had a great time creating our own country, flag and national anthem and enjoyed pitching our ideas to the dragons, also known as our rosh and sgan  of camp.

After i-club and free time, we came together to do a programme about responsibility, this year’s overarching theme across all Tribe camps in Belgium and England. We discussed what is responsibility and why it is important and created our own responsible citizen. This was followed by another lively dinner and an absolutely amazing and messy wide game complete with shaving foam, water and silly string.

Everyone needs a good shower now after the wide game before our daily BBC, Sikkum (camp sum up) and bed!

Day 6: Sunday 7th August 2016

Wake-up was slightly earlier today as we needed to get off on time for our trip to a theme park where an incredible time was had by everyone. We enjoyed roller coasters and water rides, upside down rides and some slightly softer ones. We were exhausted when we arrived back at site but still had enough energy to create a fantastic ruach at dinner then we're going to enjoy a fun ‘Pub Quiz’ before BBC and some well-needed sleep.

Day 5: Shabbat 7th August 2016

We really enjoyed being able to wake up slightly later this morning and began our Shabbat morning with davening and a great Kiddush. This was followed by a Shabbat-friendly Challenge session where we learnt about Israeli society. A crazy and exciting programme followed Shabbat lunch which involved participants running around the camp site finding answers to questions, completing forfeits, and competing against their peers. Everyone had a fantastic time and learnt a lot about general knowledge, sport, Judaism and their madrichim.

Free time followed which was longer than usual, after which we had our annual Tribe ‘Question & Answer’ session with Rabbi and Rebbetzen Levin and Rabbi and Rebbetzen Azizoff. Everyone really got involved in this and some great questions asked with even greater answers given.

We ended Shabbat with our third meal and a beautiful ‘Shabbat sum up’ with all three camps joining together. We shared our favourite Shabbat moment, sang beautiful songs and heard lots of stories. This was followed by a lovely Havdalah (end of Shabbat ceremony) to say goodbye to Shabbat and to distinguish between Shabbat and the rest of the week.

We are all really excited for our trip tomorrow and so had to try and get some sleep tonight!

Day 4: Friday 5th August 2016

After another Shul of Rock and breakfast, we enjoyed a fantastic 50:50 programme, completing lots of challenges and activities in order to win points for our teams.
This was followed by a Challenge session and lunch before we began our programme preparing us for Shabbat. During this programme, we enjoyed making posters and decorations for the dining room and Shabbat table. We also made Shabbat cards for other participants and madrichim.

It wasn’t long until the site had been completely tidied and everyone was enjoying getting ready for our camp Shabbat. With a beautiful candle lighting and Friday night davening, Shabbat got off to a fabulous start and we can’t wait to see what is in store for the remainder of Shabbat. We are looking forward to joining with Camp Barak and Camp Kerach for Friday night dinner with an incredible atmosphere! Following dinner, we are going to have our own oneg with lots of fun games and, of course, loads of nosh!!

Shabbat shalom!

Day 3: Thursday 4th August 2016

Instead of our usual Shul of Rock, we began the day with different workshops where the boys had an opportunity to learn more about Tefillin and the girls had their own prayer discussions. After a lively breakfast, we began with a Challenge session, in which our knowledge of the Israeli government widened. After some free time and an early lunch, we set off for our first trip to the Challenge Rooms. In groups, we had to complete lots of exciting and challenging activities in order to escape from the room. Everyone had a fantastic time and it was a great opportunity to bond more with each other and learn more about our friends.

Camp Sufa had an unbelievable time at the Challenge Rooms completing various physical challenges including a maze, a quiz and a high ropes course.

Back at our camp site, we enjoyed a great dinner with lots of ruach before having our bonfire. We sang songs, shared stories and enjoyed spending time with our peers. As always, the day ended with our BBC – Before Bed Chill – and off we went for another night of not a lot of sleep!
